Adding a feedback form in expression web

Expression web allows you to set up forms in exactly the same way as you did in FrontPage but without the wizards. The problem here is you expose yourself to spam!

None of us like spam do we?

So how else can it be done?

Simple ASP - that’s how. Using an asp page and JMail which is a service you host most likely offers, one can make a simple feedback form that protects your e-mail address. The expression web feedback form tutorials explain how to set it all up and how you can have copies of the original e-mail sent to other e-mail addresses too.

You can simply cut and paste the code and make just 3 changes. Very simple.

Expression Web retail version

Expression web upgrades should be a simple thing!

At expression-web-designer-help.com we were one of the first to get hold of the expression web ctp1, which was really only a souped up frontpage or if you like, frontpage with a css editor. (back then May 06, the product was called expression web designer) Then the beta version came out and a good deal of the frontpage bots were removed in favour of validity. And finally the boxed retail version came out in mid December 06 in the USA! We got hold of the retail version via one of our forum members and the thing travelled half way around to world to our base in the UK so a full box version install is on the cards.

As i wander about the web, i had picked up some comments with regard to some of the expression web templates that were in the ctp1 and beta version were not available in the retail version! The templates that come with Expression web are a great way to get up and running and making changes to a default template is very easy to do. Before our boxed version install, i hope to make a copy of all the Standard expression web templates. That way if any are missing, we still have a copy. We have some modified expression web template downloads available on our main site so feel fre to go and get one.

The good news for us in the UK and i supect Europe, is that expression web is now available via amazon.com or .co.uk. The bad news is it costs so much more than in the USA.

Expression Web E-Commerce

Expression web and PayPal work together and for the more experienced web creator, visiting Paypal and making the code is a snip. But if you have limited experience of code use then perhaps an Expression Web PayPal addon would be your best bet.

Web Assist, have created a paypal addon for expression web and it is free of charge too. It integrates well with expression web and is very simple to use…

These will be followed by IMHO some of the greatest CSS minds, programmers and trend setters who are pushing the web forward.

A square peg in a round hole?

All to often, we see questions like, where is the navigation component gone, Where have themes gone and even worse, where is clip art gone!

I find incredible when i travel through our little corner of the Internet, how difficult it is for people to let go or these old FP components!

Already, we see a small army of add in developers scrambling to be the first to put out this tool and that. Tools that bring back the old functions of FP. Such things as page include - well yes nice touch, valid and very useful. Navigation is another big one on the wish list and yes again, i am in favour and liked this component. It did not however produce valid code! That for me really is the limit of my wish list going into expression web, but it does beg the question…

If these were taken out due to non valid resultant code, will the add ins offer a valid method to return these components and functionality? After all Expression web is part of the so called Web2 which is essentially valid sleek coding using XHTML CSS and XML to name but a few.

Whilst it will be nice to see how the add ins square up, lets not forget that we are using Expression Web as a tool to produce valid code and not as a suped up FrontPage. If you like frontpage, stick with it but you run the risk of being left behind! Lets face it, if you make web sites using FP, at some point in time you will be using EW so jump on board now.

Insert Flash in Expression Web

Expression web, unlike frontpage, does not support any point and click method of inserting flash onto a page. However a very simple solution is available using the swfobject.js method.
